Auction Spotlight: T. Anthony Jewelers

We are super excited to have T. Anthony Jewelers as one of our event sponsors for the third year in a row!  They will be donating a gorgeous one-of-a-kind piece to the live auction at Get Hitched Give Hope plus they might have some bling for you to try on if you stop by their bistro table! Tyler Sholdt from T. Anthony Jewelers shared with me a little about his business and their stunning auction item for this year…

Tyler, tell me a little about your job and how you got started in jewelry design…

I design and create gorgeous jewelry!   I would consider myself a jewelry designer, diamond broker and depending on the client… a therapist.  Though I don’t have a degree in therapy or counseling, I do have the privilege of being one of the first people in the wedding industry that a couple visits before all of the fun starts.  I value people and I value marriage and I think that comes out in the way I work with my clients.

I’ve been involved in the jewelry industry for over 12 years and have been the owner of T. Anthony Jewelers for the past four years.

I absolutely love this industry and being able to use the talents I’ve been blessed with is truly an amazing opportunity.  Not only that but jewelry runs deep in my family’s blood.  My great-grandfather purchased a failing jewelry repair business in 1935 and turned it around to be one of the most prestigious jewelry repair shops in Washington.  The history of jewelry has been past down through generations and the passion still runs deep.

It sounds like you are really passionate about your work!  What do you love most about it?

I love meeting new people, creating relationships and designing them beautiful, one-of-a-kind jewelry that they will wear for a lifetime.

What drew you to Get Hitched Give Hope?

Right off the bat the GHGH team was sincere, warm, fun and good hearted.  Then I learned more about the event and what the money was going towards.  From there it was a no brainer and we’ve had a great relationship ever since.

What will you be donating to the Get Hitched Give Hope auction?

This year like the past two years, T. Anthony Jewelers will be donating to the live auction.  I will also have a fun selection of other jewels at my bistro table for people to try on.  The item up for auction this year will be a gorgeous pair of white pave diamond earrings with black diamond briolettes. These earrings are absolutely stunning!  The best part is that you can dress them up or wear them with a pair of jeans.

What inspires you?

Oh man!  I’m inspired by a lot of different things.  My amazing and talented wife, family, my ever-changing 10 month old son, the commitment of marriage, any type of art… you name it, modern architecture with clean lines and unique design, natural landscapes.  The list goes on.

What makes your business stand out?

I’m able to offer a ton of flexibility for clients who want to design a custom piece of jewelry.  Since I’m a one-man show, I’m the only one calling the shots.  You’re only ever dealing with me and you’ll never be passed along to another salesperson.  Even better than that, the final product and the cost of the final product will speak for itself!

If you could pass on your advice to an engaged couple, what three tips would you give?

1.  Enjoy the time you’re engaged!  Yes, it can be stressful at times but it can also be very bonding.  Make the best out of that rare time you have together.

2.  Get away.  Travel.  Explore the world.

3.  Kiss!  Be affectionate.  Especially in front of your kids (when the time comes).

4.  Bonus advice:  Learn your spouses love language.  Whether it’s buying them gifts, cleaning the house, positive and affirming words or just spending time with them.  Make the extra effort to continuously learn more about your spouse.

Thanks Tyler!  How can we keep in touch?

Featured Sponsor: PJ Hummel & Company

A big part of what we love about our annual auction and soiree is dressing up.  Not just ourselves but the fabulous ballroom at the Four Seasons as well!  This year we have the incredible resources and talents of PJ Hummel & Company to help us create a gorgeous and fun atmosphere for you to enjoy and to inspire us all to remember why we are there: to fulfill dreams!!

PJ Hummel & Company Inc, is an award-winning event design, décor, and production company, a one-stop shop for event design needs, creating impressive special events for private and corporate clients since 1995.  PJ began her first visual merchandising business in 1976 at the age of 19. She started collecting props and décor to meet the needs of her clientele. That collection has greatly expanded and is now housed in a 15,000 square foot warehouse!

PJ, what do you love about your work?

The power of the big “wow.”  It is the expression on my guests’ faces, the wow and the wonder, which gives me huge satisfaction that what I do makes a difference.  PJ Hummel & Company creates award-winning events and things of beauty every single day.  Our events give guests a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

What drew you to Get Hitched, Give Hope?

It was a genius idea in a beautiful place & for a great cause. The organizers have gathered a top-notch team that will come together and create something of significance.

How are you participating in GHGH this year?

This is our first year, and we are the main décor sponsor for the auction soiree.  Our company specializes in large scale décor, and we’re excited to use some of our brand-new inventory, such as our oversized 5’ tall birdcages with crystal chandeliers inside.

What inspires you?

Our clients!  Every project is different and unique.  One of our brides wanted a traditional Hindu wedding, but her mother wanted a garden theme.  We married the two ideas together and created a Secret Garden theme that ran throughout the entire wedding.

What makes your business stand out?

What sets PJ Hummel & Company apart from other vendors in our field is our longevity, expertise, and experience.  We have had many opportunities to work on some really big projects in some very unusual locations.  We are a hybrid of designer and supplier, and have a strong passion for new ideas.  We call ourselves “the ultimate event resource” because we do it all.  We own our own inventory of soft seating, 20’ high drapes, centerpieces, and decorative galore.

If you could pass on your advice to an engaged couple, what three tips would you give?

Establish a budget early, and share it with your designers.  We always ask our clients for a budget range and what they want that budget to include.
If you’re trying to save costs, pick a venue with good bones.  Then it’s just a matter of adding personal details.  Collect visuals of what you like.  Things like color schemes, floral, & table settings, whatever helps build your vision. We have a design studio fill of samples and deign books to spark our client’s imaginations!

Anything else you’d like to share with the world?

When we say we’re award-winning designers, we mean it! In the past year we have been honored with: Best Rental Provider in Washington by Northwest Meetings + Events Magazine, Best wedding (budget $100,001 and above) by The Emerald City Applause awards, Best innovative new product/technology (our Glow Bars, which will be seen at the show!), and 2011 Woman of Influence by the Business Examiner!

Elite Swag Sneak-Peak with Serephine

Swag is probably my favorite aspect of attending events.  I mean, who DOESN’T love swag?! At Get Hitched Give Hope you will have the opportunity to bid on and take home one of 10 Elite Swag Bags choked full of amazing wedding goodies!!! Erin Brooks with Serephine met with me to give us a sneak-peak at some of the Elite Swag that will be available for auction…

Erin, what is your business and why did you start it?

I make bridal headpieces and veils. I started Serephine in June of 2010, after searching high and low for a headpiece that was elegant, simple and had a superior level of craftsmanship for my own wedding. While there are many beautiful pieces out there, I had trouble finding something that fit my specific vision, so I decided to help other brides like me out by designing my own line of headpieces and veils that provide the utmost in quality, composition and style.

What drew you to Get Hitched Give Hope?

I love the idea of using my craft to help others. I think it’s really important to give back and to make other people’s lives beautiful, in any way big or small, that I can.

How are you participating in Get Hitched Give Hope this year?

I have donated 10 special Serephine pieces to be part of the VIP Swag Bags. They are very popular and lovely styles and truly, perfect for a bride to wear on her special day, as well as the special days leading up to her wedding such as her bachelorette party, bridal shower, and even on her honeymoon. Every bride deserves to feel beautiful from head to toe, and the headpiece is an important part of that overall look!

I’m donating 10 pieces, 5 each of two styles, in mixtures of whites and ivories to match most wedding gowns. The first style is the Darla single hair flower, which is a delicate flower hairpiece made of ostrich, goose and coque feathers with touches of French veiling. It attaches with an alligator clip for easy placement and tangle-free removal. The flower measures approximately 4 inches in diameter (the airy feather accents can extend further). The second style is the Daphne petite hair bloom which is made of chiffon, tulle, French veiling, goose and ostrich feathers and a hand-selected, silver tone rhinestone jewel center. This piece also attaches securely with an alligator clip for easy placement and tangle-free removal. It measures approximately 3 inches in diameter (excluding the fringe on the side) and sits approximately .5 inches high. Both are extremely popular styles because of their modest sizes, elegant composition and floaty feather touches.

What inspires you?

Lots of things! Sometimes it’s the materials and textures I use that inspire me, and the creative ways I can combine them. Sometimes it’s nature and the beautiful blooms it has to offer. Other times, it’s a bride’s dress, or even her personality and personal style that give me a great idea for a piece.

What makes your business stand out?

I think what sets Serephine apart is the fact that I am personally, actively engaged in every single order. I am reachable via email to all of my clients, and always respond to their questions promptly. I meticulously create every single piece myself, so I am absolutely sure it’s perfect before it goes out the door. I simply wouldn’t send a piece to one of my clients that I wouldn’t wear on my own head for my own wedding. I’m proud of each piece I create and want my brides to feel proud and beautiful wearing them.

If you could pass on your advice to an engaged couple, what three tips would you give?

I don’t want to sound cliché, but I think firstly, it’s really important to try to enjoy the planning process and try not to stress too much–remember in the end, it’s a party and the most important part is that you end up married to the person you love.  Secondly, make sure the day includes elements that make it personal to you as a couple, whether that’s naming the tables after places you went on special dates, serving s’mores for dessert because you go camping often, etc. Personal touches always make a wedding extra special.  Lastly, don’t forget to feed your day-of vendors! They are there all day, too, and you want them happy and full so they do extra-amazing work for you.

Eliza, tell us a little about what you do when you are not helping with GHGH…

I’m a wedding and portrait photographer and I’ve been doing it for 6 awesome years!

What makes your business stand out?

The things that drive my photography are emotion and moments happening between people. That’s what I hunt for and that’s what I like to photograph. I think clients choose me when they’re looking for someone who’s down to earth and who will work with them to make sure the process of taking wedding photos doesn’t interfere with their experience of the wedding day.
