The secret to any successful business comes down to how your money is spent.
SInce Get Hitched Give Hope is a non-profit, where the dollars go is just that much more important. We have over 30 amazing people on our team that put in countless hours of time to make Get Hitched Give Hope successful, but when it comes down to it, it is where our money goes, and how many WISHES we grant that really really matters.
And you have to have one hell of a mind sitting on the seat of Treasurer to make sure your money is spent in the ways that are the best, and that we can give more and more and more to the Dream Foundation and the Young Survival Coalition.
Enter the amazing Michelle Loretta from Sage Wedding Pros.
Michelle is not only our Treasurer but she was one of the ladies sitting around a table back in 2007 dreaming up what is now Get Hitched Give Hope!!!
She has since moved across the country to Miamiand started Sage Wedding Pros which, if you ask us, is the BEST small business blog out there.
It’s targeted to the wedding industry, but the knowledge that Michelle and her biz partner Kelly share on Sage Wedding Pros is relate-able to ANY business. When you are done with reading all about Michelle here, you should head over and get lost in all the amazing info there!
See what makes Michelle tick!
What do you do for GHGH and how long have you been involved? I am Ms. Moneypenny AKA “the Treasurer”. I was one of the original founders of GHGH and have been involved since it was just a glimmer in our eyes. I served as the President for a couple years and became the long-distance Treasurer when I moved to Miami in 2009.
What brought you to GHGH? When we founded GHGH we wanted to throw a big party where engaged couples could meet some fabulous wedding professionals. Soon, we saw there was a great opportunity to give back and decided that this party should be a charity event. The GHGH formula is magical because everyone wins: wishes get granted, couples get great deals, wedding pros get attention, and everyone has FUN!
What is your favorite part of your experience with GHGH?
I love seeing the magic come alive. The GHGH team is incredibly creative and resourceful. We start planning the event 11 months in advance and when all the lights, ribbons, and bling come together it is an incredibly beautiful event. But, the incredible thing is that for all the sparkle, it’s the good-hearted feelings that really shine. Wishes are being granted on that special night and everyone can feel how special it is.
You co-own Sage Wedding Pros; what drew you to your job?
I am co-owner of Sage Wedding Pros. Kelly Simants and I teamed up in 2009 to develop Sage Wedding Pros, a business blog with daily tools and best practices for small business owners in the wedding industry. (This venture stemmed from my experience as an invitation designer for mmm… paper and her experience as a wedding planner with Sweet Pea Events.) Shortly thereafter we launched The Simple Plan, an easy-peasy approach to business planning. Today, we consult and speak to wedding professionals on how to build a successful and sustainable business. We pride themselves on going beyond theory and arming business owners with the tools to excel.Do you have any insider secrets to tell our brides to make their planning / enjoying of their wedding easier? Remember that a wedding is only a day and a marriage is a lifetime. Savor the celebration of that lifetime. Don’t sweat the small stuff! Are you married? And if you are, what was your favorite part of your wedding or what would you have done differently?
I was married in 2004… and had an AWESOME wedding. I love that all our favorite people were in the same room with us, sharing in us. My favorite part was our band. We had an Argentine band that played a mix of Latin sounds – and no standards – all original music of their own. People danced their BUTTS off.
I do wish we had gotten a better photographer who was a wedding photographer. (He is a very accomplished travel photographer, but the timing of a wedding is very different.
Probably red. It’s my signature color.
Thanks Michelle! And congrats are due as well as you just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and are on a much deserved maternity leave right now! Keep in touch with Michelle!
