Interested in just what makes Becca tick? Check out our team interview below! What do you do for GHGH and how long have you been involved? “This is my third year with GHGH. I spent two years working on the procurement team helping get amazing vendors to donate their services and products to the live and silent auctions.
I had a baby last year though and needed a smaller roll for this year, so now I am on the PR team and I make sure all of our fabulous vendors and team members get blogged about on this here blog!
What brought you to GHGH? I’ve known about GHGH since it’s first year. I volunteered to help on the day of the event and fell in love with the premise behind the event. Not only was it an AWESOME party, but the reason we all were brought together was to band together and give a helping hand to those in need. You can always do more if you work together, and GHGH is the perfect example of that!
What is your favorite part of your experience with GHGH?
The team members for sure. I love being able to work with, play with, laugh with and give with some of the most amazing people in the Seattle Wedding Industry. We are all small biz owners and give 110% to our businesses, and then we make sure to give another 100% to GHGH because it’s such an important cause. It’s amazing to be part of such a great community!!! You own :: Rebecca Ellison Photography a boutique wedding photography company in Seattle. What drew you to your job? I have a degree in commercial photography, but after a couple of years working in a fashion photography studio, I found my passion was in photographing real people.
I found I love capturing real people with all their real people flaws and helping them realize how beautiful and photogenic they could be over the consistent critique and not good enough mentality of the fashion industry. I started photographing more and more weddings in 2007 and completely fell in love with the storytelling and the emotion of such a pivotal day in my clients lives. From that I began photographing bumps and babies and now love capturing the moments of change in peoples lives. It’s about life, love and all the little things…. all photos credited to : Rebecca Ellison Photography Do you have any insider secrets to tell our brides to make their planning / enjoying of their wedding easier? Plan buffer time into your wedding schedule! It brings the stress level down so fast! Also, for pretty getting ready pictures, don’t let stuff explode all over the room you are getting dressed in. The pictures of you donning your dress will look much more classic and beautiful if there isn’t tons of “debris” everywhere
Tell us the most unique thing you saw at a wedding / were asked to do for a wedding?
You’d be surprised how many brides have asked me to take the funny picture of their bridesmaids holding their dress up to let them go the bathroom.
No pictures of them using the bathroom of course, just of the funny circumstances that you find yourself in when nature calls and you are wearing a big dress!
My wedding happened before I photographing a lot of weddings, and it was before all the inspiration blogs that are out there. Because of that, I didn’t think of all the amazing ways I could have infused more of our personalities into the day. I would have included more fun details that spoke of who we are as a couple and as individuals.
My favorite part was hearing Pete say his vows.
What color shoes do you plan to wear to this year’s event? ooooooooooooohhhh I don’t know. I’m thinking a dark dusky red… But that of course depends on what I can find!!! Which is usually half the fun!
